Welcome to Mbombela City

Mbombela City is situated in the Eastern part of South Africa and is the capital of Mpumalanga Province. The city serves as a gateway to some of the best eco- and adventure activities in Southern Africa and with its moderate climate, it becomes the preferred tourist destination all year round. Our sub-tropical fruits (like mangos, avocados, oranges, lemons, litchis and bananas) is a huge drawing card for visitors and during spring-time the blossoms of orange trees can be smelt for kilometres. For shopping enthusiasts the city offers world class shopping malls, casinos and entertainment venues with air conditioning systems. This creates excellent opportunities for prospective investors and businesses to establish themselves in the area.

The White River residence and surroundings are advised to use water sparingly as the water canal will be closed due to maintenance during these times. However, the council will be using an augmentation line from Sembcorp Silulumanzi.

The Crossings shopping complex will expand in the new future and the application for the expansion has been handed in to the municipality.

The expansion of the complex will result in more shops being built with more customers that will make use of the complex for their shopping. Due to the expected increase in customers there will be an increase in vehicular movement (traffic) to and from the complex. This increase in traffic will result in the increase of traffic in and around the complex.

Mbombela Local Municipality customers to please note that Eskom has generation capacity constraints during this time of winter, which from time to time will require electricity users to respond in order to avoid an emergency or load shedding.

The standard alert/notification which applies every day is that electricity users should reduce their electricity usage in order to enable Eskom to avoid declaring an emergency or rotational load shedding.

Should Eskom declare an emergency or rotational load shedding, the municipality will formulate a schedule in line with Eskom's requirements.

The municipality is well aware that its customers need detailed and correct information with regards to load shedding schedules so that they can plan their activities accordingly. However, this can only happen if and when Eskom has indicated such details to MLM.

Please not that Hazyview does not have water on the 23rd of July 2014. New pumps were supposed to be installed at the raw water pump station on the 22nd of July 2014 but the service provider could not because other parts of the electrical works were in water. We are working on the situation and will keep posted.

We have organised with the Irrigation Board, the canal is already back in service and the water treatment works will be operational by 10h00. Our apologies for inconvenience caused.
