Mbombela Local Municipality
was identified by National Treasury as a pilot site to implement
budget reforms and GAMAP. As a first phase, a three-year budget was
compiled for the 2002/2003 financial year and preparations are being
made to implement GAMAP as from 1 July 2003. The main focus of the
financial reforms currently under way is to strengthen financial
management in order to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of
loss through fraud, theft and under utilization of resources.

The
Municipality makes provision for the following payment methods:
1. Automatic
Clearance Bureau (ACB) which is similar to a debit order. An
application form can be completed at the municipality and the
outstanding amount will be debited from the person or organisation's
bank account.
2. Payment can
be done directly into the municipality's bank account. A deposit
slip is attached on the monthly invoice which can be used for this
purpose. The account numbers on the invoice has to be written on the
depotslip as reference. In the event where the amount that is being
deposited is for more than one account, the deposit slip should be
accompanied with a list of the relevant accounts and be faxed to
(013) 759 2015 or 759 2183.
3. There are
two post boxes at the municipal office in Nelspruit where the
payments for the municipality and the Greater Nelspruit Utility
Company can be deposited.
4. Payments
can also be done at any branch of the South African Post Office
5. Payments
can also be made at Easypay paypoints in Pick 'n Pay and
Shoprite/Checkers and at ABSA Smarted ATM machines. |
