Mr Dumisani Mabuza started his career as Trainee Manager at Old Mutual Corporate plc (Corporate Financial Schemes) at its head offices in Pinelands, Cape Town in 1999. He gained a wealth of experience working at the head office of Africa's largest financial services company in terms of market capitalization then. Interestingly Dumisani joined this company during its interesting period and time of de-mutualisation. He was responsible for inter alia, people management, finance, internal business processes and of course customer management. Needless to say that some of his clients during this period included listed and blue chip companies. He left Old Mutual and joined various management consulting entities in Cape Town and Johannesburg and worked as Management & Research Consultant. During this period he was responsible for servicing clients and the development of products. "This is certainly a period in my professional career that I certainly discovered my strengths and passion, he says". It is during this period that Dumisani had an opportunity to experience both private and public sector. He says he was extremely fortunate to have worked with highly qualified and experienced management consultants and firms. The experience gained during this professional time is owed to companies such as Optimal Information Systems that introduced him to business process mapping, business process re-engineering, document flow analysis, business and systems analysis. He also greatly appreciates the opportunity that the then Phezulu Business Solutions provided and allowed him space to interact with both public sector and blue chip clients. This period is also greatly owed to the then Sithole Human Capital, an organisation he joined during its establishment and which provided him the opportunity to demonstrate his potential. It is there that he has learnt about local government, having helped and consulted with various municipalities in the Free State and Northern Cape provinces. The wealth of experience gained let to the establishment of his own management consulting entity named Sinethemba Management Consultants around 2005. This period cemented his interest in the Local Government space. He consulted for municipalities such as Nkomazi, Thaba Chweu, Ehlanzeni District, Bushbuckridge, the then Bohlabela District and interestingly also Mbombela, most of the provincial and departments and agencies.
Dumisani joined Mbombela in October 2012 with a clear view and vision to propel this institution to greater heights and change the lives of its citizens. It is surely with the wealth of experience gained over the years that he should help Mbombela become the best it could possibly be. His wealth of experience is also owed to participation in student politics. Finally Dumisani has and will always be a community and political activist, which in many respects define his personality traits
