Purpose

  • The purpose of the division is to promote tourism development & marketing, Business regulation, licensing and support for informal traders.

Functions

  • To develop and provide support to tourism development projects in cooperation with internal / external key stakeholders
  • To render business regulations governance services

Brief Background

The division derive its existence from the constitution of Republic of South Africa, section 152 (1) C where it say the local government must promote social and economic development

Key Focus Areas

  • Promote and support Local Tourism Organization and Business Chambers within the City of Mbombela.
  • Monitor adherence to Business Regulations
  • Support informal traders within the City of Mbombela
  • Promote tourism development and marketing

  • Attend the trade exhibition shows
  • Development and Implementation of Tourism sector plan
  • Support the Local Tourism Organization (LTO)
  • Licensing of business
  • Issuing of trade permits to informal traders
  • Enforcement of informal trade bylaws
  • Registration and regulation of Spazashop
  • Facilitation of liquor license applications
